Top Agent is a full-time commitment for each candidate for the four-week period. Each day, candidates will meet as a group in an office space in the Newport Beach area for approximately two hours of group training/lecture presentation followed by assignments which may include anything from cold calling to lead generation to development and presentation of listing proposals to other real estate-related activities and challenges. Each day will run from approximately 9am until 5pm. Various assignments/challenges will be judged by a panel of experts and points awarded to the candidates based upon the quality of their work.
Renowned real estate sales trainer Bob Braun, who has worked with most of the region’s leading brokerages, will be the lead trainer and mentor of the program. Top Agent also will feature training sessions with some of the brightest minds and most renowned experts from both inside and outside the real estate business – from motivational speakers to advertising gurus; from architects to interior designers; and from financial experts to top brokers. And, of course, participants will gain rare access and exposure to John McMonigle and his talented team of world-class agents at the McMonigle Group.
Each candidate will be closely monitored, scored and evaluated throughout the training process. However, the winner will not be chosen on points accrued as a sole measure. Rather, John McMonigle and members of the judging panel and his own real estate team will be the final determinants of who is the most qualified candidate and the best “fit” for the position within the McMonigle Group.
To be considered as a candidate for the Top Agent program, you must currently be licensed to sell real estate in California. In addition, you must send your resume to Bob Braun, head trainer of the program, at bob@mcmoniglegroup.com. If you are selected for further consideration, you will submit to various screening tests and interviews. Six to 10 candidates will be identified as a result of these tests/interviews. These six to 10 candidates will be required to transfer their agent licenses to Coldwell Banker Previews International’s Newport Center office for the duration of the program.
You may, but it is not recommended. To receive the full benefits of the training and to maximize your personal success and chance of being chosen for a position, we recommend placing your full focus on the program for the four-week period.
The Top Agent program requires all participants to go back to the basics and train/retrain from the ground up in a setting akin to a luxury real estate sales “boot camp.” This essentially levels the playing field for all participants. The most important qualifications for candidates and, ultimately, for the winner of the McMonigle Group position, are sales acumen, enthusiasm, motivation and professionalism – not prior experience. In fact, new agents may be at an advantage in this program as the goal is to train agents in the specific, proven-successful strategies and principles that John McMonigle and his team apply to their practice versus any general “real estate 101” approaches.
No. However, the concept is under consideration for a future television show and producers may observe or film the sessions. In addition, we do anticipate media coverage of the program to some extent, so all participants must be willing to be photographed and perhaps interviewed for/featured in various media stories about the program.
